Well this morning I had two classes and both were phenomenal! It's seriously amazing how much one can learn from listening to Dr. Chapmann. He is seriously like listening to a History Channel special! You learn so much and it is fun! I can't believe how much I better understand European/English history from listening to his lectures! I finally feel like I really can understand the monarchy and the twists and turns it had taken and why.
After classes, Kelsey, David and I went to the Oxford Castle. We took the tour and it was really interesting. The first part of the castle was built over 1000 years ago. It has been used for various reasons by royalty throughout history (for residential reasons, prisons, ect.). It was even used as a prison until 1996 (but was shutdown because it was considered too harsh of a prison). One wing of the castle has been turned into a hotel which people can stay at for 300 pounds ($450 USD)!! During our tour we also went down into the crypt which is said to be quite haunted, Kelsey did not like that very much. I have included a picture of our 'mugshot' we were given on our tour.
We also got to hike around the man made hill and climb to the top! It looks kind of silly since it is in the middle of the city, but since the weather was a bit nicer it was kind of fun to just walk around and enjoy the weather!
After our tour we decided to walk around the High (the fancy street in Oxford that has many fancy shops and restaurants). We got some appetizers at a restaurant that had a second floor that overlooked the high-- I tried goat cheese! Then we just walked around and went back to our hall for dinner and have been relaxing here for the rest of the evening! It looks like we will have better weather tomorrow so we are looking forward to walking around in some sunshine!!
Looks very interesting. The pictures are great. I look forward to seeing them every day.
