1st Day of Class and Exploring

Today we began with our first day of classes! Dr. Chapmann is AMAZING! He is so smart and you learn so much each hour he talks-it's great! I wish all professors everywhere could lecture like he does! I'm glad I read the textbooks before I came because it has helped in providing that background knowledge about each class.

For lunch today they served roast beef, and those of you who know me well know that roast beef is one of my favorite meals-- well, England prides themselves on having great roast beef, I'm not sure if it was just how they prepared it here out what but I couldn't eat more than one bite! Now I don't consider myself a picky eater and I am open and excited to try all new foods but this roast beef was so oily and smelled like fish... nope.

In the late afternoon after class was done, Kelsey, David and I went exploring through Oxford. Just down the road from us is a pub called the Eagle and Child and this is where J. R. R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis met each Tuesday while they were at Oxford! There is a nice a memorial and display at 'their' both. Here we got a drink called a 'cider' it tastes like pure fruit and was a nice treat! We then kept exploring and found some cool shops, churches and college grounds to hang out on until dinner!

After today though, Kelsey and I have learned her $200 straightener does not have duel  voltage capability. After about 20 seconds of plugging it into the voltage converter it started steaming and then the plates melted out! It was crazy!!

Until next time!
